A federal judge sentenced a Lauderdale County couple to hundreds of years in prison for sexually abusing a minor child in their custody to produce images of child pornography.
Officials said Patricia Ayers is sentenced to 1,590 years in prison. Her husband, Matthew Ayers, was sentenced to 750 years in prison.

Capps said the mistrial declaration stemmed from a situation where an item of evidence was inadvertently not turned over to the defense. He said the ruling came after it was discovered the defense was not given a report generated by a cyber crimes unit.

Just days after getting arrested in a child sex sting, Robert Kingsolver is a long way from his beloved job at Walt Disney World.
Inside his rented house in a suburban Orlando neighborhood filled with children, he sits in a folding chair in a nearly empty room, wires dangling in the corner where his computer used to be connected.
Now, he can’t be online or near children.
“My life is ruined,” he told CNN in an interview at his home. “My family’s life is ruined. My kids’ life is ruined. I’ve devastated my parents because of bad judgment.”
Kingsolver, 49, is one of at least 35 Disney employees arrested since 2006 and accused of sex crimes involving children, trying to meet a minor for sex, or for possession of child pornography, according to a six-month CNN investigation that examined police and court records, and interviewed law enforcement officials and some of the men who have been arrested.
Five Universal Studios employees and two employees from SeaWorld have also been arrested.
So far, a total of 32 have been convicted, with the remaining cases pending.

A Florence couple was indicted last week on more than 100 charges related to exploiting a minor child in their custody to produce child pornography.
The charges against Patricia Allana Ayers, 34, and her husband, Matthew David Ayers, 42, were outlined in a 107-count indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Birmingham.
Investigators found the couple in possession of 53 pornographic images of the child produced between the summer of 2010 and January 2013.

A Dothan woman admitted to police that she used the nickname “Lady Woo” in an online web forum in an effort to solicit child pornography.
Dothan Police Cpl. Tim Mullis, the department’s internet crimes against children investigator, said both 31-year-old Samantha Victoria Bryant and her boyfriend Ellison Ray Dooling used nicknames involving the word “Woo” in an online internet forum.

A Utah truck driver kept sex slaves in his semitrailer for months at a time while he traveled the country, filing down their teeth, forcing them to alter their appearance and beating them until they nearly passed out, authorities said.
Timothy Jay Vafeades, 54, made an initial appearance Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Fargo, N.D., and will now be transferred to Utah for further proceedings.
The charges against him include kidnapping, transportation for illegal sexual activity, and possession of child pornography, and could bring a life sentence if he is convicted. His public defender, Richard Henderson, could not be reached for comment.

Investigators say evidence of child pornography was found on a computer in Brown’s residence back in January after he was arrested on drug warrants for making narcotic transactions through the computer. The computer was seized at that time.

A youth pastor arrested Tuesday on 35 counts of child pornography and sex abuse has been on the staff of Highland Park Baptist for 16 years and formerly served as a juvenile detention officer in Tuscumbia.
Jeff Eddie, who was charged with two counts of child pornography, 31 counts of second-degree sodomy, and three counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12, lists the Tennessee Valley Juvenile Detention Facility as a former employer on his webpage.

Federal investigators also said that in October, child pornography files were being offered for download on an Internet peer-to-peer network linked to Loskarn’s residential IP address. It included a 28-minute video of graphic material featuring children reportedly as young as 6 years old, authorities said.
In his letter, which was found after his death and reportedly posted online by his family, Loskarn wrote about how tormented he felt when thinking about sharing his struggles with friends and family. He apologized to the victims who were in the videos, as well as anyone touched by the scandal.

A Canadian teenage girl has been found guilty of distributing child pornography in connection with “sexting” pictures of her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend, the youth crown prosecutor for Victoria said Friday.
The British Columbia case of the then 16-year-old, who is not identified because she is a minor, is believed to be one of the first cases in Canada where a teenager has been convicted of child pornography charges related to “sexting.”
