A social media firestorm involving a River Region credit union is burning after an alleged breach of customer privacy by a credit union employee. Max Credit Union customers are demanding answers after they claim an employee shared a customer’s personal information on Facebook.

The Senior VP of Marketing at Max Credit Union confirmed the credit union was alerted to the alleged incident last Thursday and that there is an investigation underway led by “legal authorities”. The Max employee has been placed on leave.

A Pennsylvania teenager has been accused of murdering a classmate and posing with the victim’s body for a “selfie,” according to news reports.

Authorities say 16-year-old Maxwell Marion Morton of Jeannette, Pa., fatally shot 16-year-old Ryan Mangan in the face before taking a photo with Mangan’s body and uploading it to Snapchat, a smartphone application that allows users to send images that are deleted a few seconds after they’re received, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Morton sent the image  to a friend, who saved it on his phone before it was deleted, according to Fox News. The friend showed the photo to his mother, who turned the image over to police, according to Fox News.

A small-town California fire captain resigned Wednesday, days after his arrest on allegations connected to the clandestine installation of spy gear to video record a minor in the bathroom.

Mark McLeod Wygant, the former fire captain of South Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountains, is also said to have possessed as many as 100 videos of the young girl, who was 12, according to court documents (PDF). The defendant, who is being held without bail, installed as many as four spy cameras “for the purpose of recording her nude from multiple angles,” the FBI said in an affidavit.

Timothy Jay Vafeades, 54, made an initial appearance Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Fargo, N.D., and will now be transferred to Utah for further proceedings.

The charges against him include kidnapping, transportation for illegal sexual activity, and possession of child pornography, and could bring a life sentence if he is convicted. His public defender, Richard Henderson, could not be reached for comment.
